Iowa Basketball Coach Ben McCollum Signs Contract Extension
McCollum posted a 55-17 Division I record and guided Iowa to four NCAA Tournament wins in his first two seasons.
On Monday, Iowa head coach Ben McCollum signed a contract extension through 2032, announced by Athletics Director Beth Goetz following the program's first Elite Eight appearance in 39 years.
McCollum led the Hawkeyes to a 24-13 overall record in his first season, joining Tom Davis as only the second first-year Iowa coach to win at least 20 games and advance to the Elite Eight.
The Hawkeyes defeated Clemson, Florida, and Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament before a 71-59 loss to Illinois in Houston; McCollum holds a 55-17 Division I record with four tournament victories.
Goetz praised the alignment with McCollum's vision and the culture developed within the program. "We have a strong foundation in place," McCollum said, emphasizing momentum moving forward.
Before arriving at Iowa, McCollum coached 15 years at Division II Northwest Missouri State, where he won four national championships. His 17-year career record of 450-108 supports the long-term commitment through 2032.
