Beloved Songwriter Talay Riley Dead Aged 35 After Stabbing
Police said a second man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as detectives appeal for witnesses and CCTV footage.
On Friday, June 5, emergency services found 35-year-old songwriter Mark Orabiyi, known professionally as Talay Riley, dead at a Rayleigh Road property in Silvertown, East London, after he suffered stab wounds.
Riley, a British singer-songwriter, gained prominence co-writing chart-topping hits for artists including Craig David, Dua Lipa, and Khalid while shaping modern R&B and pop music over the past 15 years.
Metropolitan Police detectives continue investigating the incident, which also injured a second man in his 20s; three individuals were arrested on suspicion of murder, with one released on bail pending further enquiries.
Tributes poured in from across the music industry, with brother Scribz Riley sharing that they spoke about the future just hours before the attack, while family described Riley as "a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend."
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, leading the investigation, is appealing for anyone with CCTV footage from the morning of the incident to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
