Sweden's Elvira Öberg won the women's biathlon sprint World Cup race in Öberhof, Germany. With a flawless shooting, she beat Finland's Suvi Minkkinen by 21 seconds and France's Julia Simon by 23.6. Lena Repinc came in 22nd and Polona Klemenčič in 28th place.
The German biathletes achieved two top-10 finishes at the start of the World Cup. The victory in the rescheduled sprint in Oberhof went to a Swede.
