The minimum wage should rise significantly in two steps until 2027. This will be felt by consumers – especially in the case of strawberry and asparagus prices, says the Farmers' Association.
The German Farmers' Association (DBV) is concerned about the future of viticulture in Germany because of the planned minimum wage increase. "Hand-intensive viticulture on steep slopes will disappear. This will change the landscape in many holiday regions," said farmer president Joachim Rukwied to the editorial network Germany (RND). Viticulture is called steep-layer viticulture in extreme hillsides where no cultivation with tractors is possible.
