Bears' Montez Sweat Suspended for 2 Games for Violating NFL Policy
Sweat will miss Chicago’s next two games after the league cited a violation of its performance-enhancing substances policy.
On Tuesday, the NFL suspended Chicago Bears defensive end Montez Sweat for two games without pay for violating the league's Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy.
The league alleges Sweat violated its performance-enhancing drug policy as the Bears navigate a difficult season following their recent 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
A $98 million contract recipient, Sweat recorded two sacks and seven tackles through five games this season, following his career-high 10 sacks in 2025.
Defensive end Austin Booker will likely assume Sweat's role, having recorded two sacks and three tackles for loss on 72% of defensive snaps last Sunday.
Sweat will miss games against the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots, becoming eligible for reinstatement on October 23 following the team's Week 7 contest.
