Millbury firefighter part of Massachusetts crew to help battle Alaskan wildfires  - The Millbury-Sutton Chronicle

On July 2, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) issued a release, stating that the DCR, along with the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game (DFG), sent a crew of 18 local firefighters and two DFG officials to battle wildfires in Alaska, including Millbury firefighter Tyler Desautels. Alaska is facing an early influx of wildfires, coupled with difficult weather conditions, which has led to a need for external firefighting help.

Bear dogs help protect Alaska wildfire crews from curious camp visitors

As wildfires burn across Alaska, bear dogs Mardy and Skye are helping crews stay safe and uplifted by keeping bears away from camps and boosting firefighter morale.
