Bus Driver Charged After Rollover on Hwy. 17 Near Wawa
Seventeen passengers suffered minor injuries and were released after the rollover, while police say no other vehicles were involved.
On Tuesday, a passenger bus rolled onto its side in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 17, approximately 25 kilometres north of Wawa. The Superior East OPP responded at 6:50 a.m.
Seventeen passengers sustained minor injuries in the rollover and were transported to hospital for treatment. All 17 individuals have since been released.
Following the investigation, the bus driver has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. Police confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Emergency services attended the scene while the bus was being removed, causing traffic delays on Highway 17. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling through the area.
The Superior East Wawa OPP is requesting anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-camera footage to contact them to assist with the ongoing investigation.
