B.C. RCMP Arrest Man in Ucluelet for Alleged Sex Crimes Against Minor

Lang was arrested without incident after investigators linked his sailboat to alleged child sexual exploitation, and he faces up to 30 years in prison.

  • On Saturday, Aug. 22, B.C. RCMP arrested Donald Steven Lang in Ucluelet after the FBI issued a provisional warrant for alleged child sexual exploitation in Hawaii.
  • According to court documents, Lang allegedly produced sexually explicit images of a minor between September and December 2024 aboard his 52-foot sailboat, the Ishi.
  • If convicted, Lang faces 15 to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000; he was previously indicted on separate child-sexual abuse charges in Idaho dating to 2003–2007.
  • "The partnership between Canadian and U.S. authorities has been key to obtaining a provisional arrest warrant," said Corp. Alex of the B.C. RCMP, highlighting cross-border cooperation.
  • The FBI remains committed to bringing offenders to justice, said criminal-assistant director Heith Janke; anyone with information is asked to contact the Honolulu Field Office at 426-2534.
