- The move follows a 67 per cent rejection of the recently negotiated tentative collective agreement by members, with bargaining reaching an impasse after six months.
- Earlier, 98.2 per cent of the union's more than 50,000 members voted in favour of job action, with arbitrator Vince Ready's ruling capping massage therapy benefits at $1,427.
- Nurses will be in a legal position to begin job action on Thursday, July 2, at 12:01 p.m., representing 60,000 nurses expressing resolve for systemic change.
- No immediate changes will occur before Jan. 1, 2027, when a new plan model is implemented, while members continue seeking a general wage increase.
