B.C. murder suspect denies pushing ex-wife into car or inflicting injuries
Stefanski says his ex-wife stabbed herself with his knife as Crown lawyers cite a police interview in which he described pushing her into his car.
On yesterday, Vitali Stefanski testified for a second day at his B.C. Supreme Court jury trial in Kamloops, pleading not guilty to second-degree murder and claiming his ex-wife stabbed herself.
RCMP records show Tatjana was last seen 'departing unexpectedly' in a black Audi on April 13, 2024, before being found dead near Lumby the following day with multiple stab wounds.
Medical evidence presented by the Crown shows Tatjana suffered seven chest stabs and multiple 'sharp-force injuries' to her limbs, contradicting Vitali's claims of self-infliction.
Vitali admitted approaching police on April 14, 2024, saying he 'was hoping' his ex-wife was alive and claimed her body 'slipped' down an embankment after he removed it from his car.
Vitali's trial testimony contradicts earlier police interview statements where he reportedly told officers he grabbed and pushed his ex-wife, a discrepancy the jury must weigh as closing submissions approach Monday.
