Bates officially signs with Utah Jazz, sits in first Summer League matchup against Hawks
Bates, a former Missouri guard, averaged 13.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in his final college season before joining Utah.
On Friday, guard Tamar Bates signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz, joining the organization's roster for the 2026 NBA Summer League and beyond.
Before this opportunity, Bates developed his game at Then-Mizzou, where he helped secure a victory over Vanderbilt during the 2025 season.
Bates was undrafted last season, signing a two-way deal with Denver before joining the Pelicans, where he played nine games averaging 5.2 points.
During the team's first matchup, Bates did not participate, remaining on the sidelines as the Jazz evaluated their Summer League roster.
Moving forward, the Utah Jazz will integrate Bates into the rotation, monitoring his development as he competes for a standard contract opportunity.
