Lawyers for Kosovo's former President Hashim Thaci seek war crimes acquittal
THE HAGUE, Feb 11 - Lawyers for Kosovo's former President Hashim Thaci said on Wednesday that he should be acquitted of war crimes charges that allege he masterminded a violent political power grab by the ethnic Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army in the late 1990s. Read more at straitstimes.com.
Today, the Special Court in The Hague temporarily released former KLA members Baški Smakaj and Fadil Fazliju, accused of obstructing that court by illegally influencing witnesses in the trial of former KLA leader Hashim Tachi and co-accused for war crimes in Kosovo and Albania, 1998-99.
