Suzuki finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and became the fourth Japanese player to reach 100 MLB home runs.
On Wednesday, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki hit his 100th Major League Baseball home run, powering his team to a 23-3 victory over the San Diego Padres at Wrigley Field.
The 31-year-old former Hiroshima Carp star became the fourth Japanese player to reach 100 MLB homers, joining Hideki Matsui, Ichiro Suzuki, and Shohei Ohtani after making the leap to MLB ahead of the 2022 season.
Suzuki opened the scoring with a three-run shot that soared 426 feet over center field in the first inning, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs to secure the Cubs' fifth consecutive victory.
Following the dominant win, the Cubs host the Cardinals on Friday, with pitcher David Peterson scheduled to start against Andre Pallante.
The Cubs enter the series with a 49-38 record, while the Cardinals hold a 45-39 mark as both teams continue their Central division race.
