Barkov Eager for Return, While Marchand Could Be Back for Panthers Within Weeks, AP Source Says – WTOP News
Barkov could resume skating by the end of November, while Marchand’s leg injury is expected to sideline him for a few weeks, a person said.
Florida Panthers stars Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand suffered injuries during the team's season-opening four-game road trip, with Barkov planning to meet the team Friday to develop a return-to-play plan.
The Panthers won back-to-back Stanley Cup titles in 2024 and 2025 but missed the playoffs last season after injuries derailed key players including Barkov and Marchand, reviving difficult memories.
Barkov hurt his left knee in San Jose on October 1 and spoke publicly Thursday for the first time since the injury, stating, "I promise I'll be back in the Panthers' uniform very soon."
Marchand appeared to injure his left leg during Tuesday's trip finale in Los Angeles and will be sidelined for "a few weeks," according to a person with knowledge of the matter.
Despite initial fear of repeating last year's injury struggles, Barkov expressed confidence in his recovery, saying, "I've received really good news," and noted support from team doctors and physios.
