Barbadian CARIFTA Games champion Ashlyn Simmons is taking her talents to the United States. The 18-year-old former Alexandra School student has earned a track and field scholarship to Alabama State University. Simmons, a multiple BSSAC champion, won gold in the Under-20 girls’ 800 metres at this year’s CARIFTA Games in Grenada. She also captured gold in the 1,500 metres.
