Banned Vondrousova appeals doping suspension to CAS
The Czech former Wimbledon champion says she never doped and argues the sanction was imposed after she did not open the door to an officer.

- Vondrousova, 27, claimed she was frightened when the officer rang, citing the 2016 knife attack on fellow Czech and former Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova. She stated her fear resulted from the officer acting "without properly identifying themselves or following protocol."
- American world number three Jessica Pegula called the suspension "harsh," comparing it to lighter punishments for Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek. "I just don't think that's fair," Pegula said at Wimbledon in June.
- Her four-year suspension runs until June 21, 2030, and she has not played on the WTA Tour since January. During her absence, the former Wimbledon winner has dropped from the top 50 to 153 in world rankings.
