European data shows that at least 14 percent of plant protection products in the EU are illegal, compared to 10 percent a decade ago, according to Reuters. The increase is due to the rising cost of spraying, but also to a decrease in authorized active ingredients. The situation is particularly alarming in some agricultural areas of Greece, where up to a quarter of the products are illegal, adds the Greek Crop Protection Association ESYF.
