Bangladesh after the election: what happened to the July Revolution?

A year and a half ago, Bangladesh’s July Revolution inspired the whole world. After 15 years of Hasina’s dictatorship, the Bangladeshi masses – led by the students – flooded the stage of history and swept her and her Awami League away. Ecstatic hopes were vested in the interim government of Muhammed Yunus, who was supposed to usher in a new era of reform.
