Snug Fit: Aussie Hailed in Warwickshire County Triumph
Chris Woakes and Ethan Bamber led a bowling-driven campaign as Warwickshire claimed their first top-flight title since 2021.
- On Saturday, September 26, Warwickshire beat Leicestershire at Edgbaston Stadium to secure the County Championship title. The victory marked the Bears' first top-flight championship triumph in five years.
- Led by captain Ed Barnard in his first season, Warwickshire steadily built momentum during a fiercely contested campaign. The Bears won five of their six matches after August resumed to top the standings.
- Sam Hain's innings of 142 laid the foundations for the title-clinching win, while Ethan Bamber finished with a league-leading 69 wickets for the year. Bamber fittingly grabbed the final dismissal.
- Captain Ed Barnard credited overseas contributors, noting that Beau Webster, New Zealander Will Young, and India's Manav Suthar were "fantastic" additions. Webster, who departed in July, remained a firm favourite within the Edgbaston faithful.
- While early favorites Surrey and Somerset challenged throughout the campaign, Warwickshire finished atop the table. Nottinghamshire's Joe Clarke led the scoring with 1287 runs, and Northants' Harry Conway took 44 wickets.
