Body of newborn baby found in warehouse
Forensic teams are identifying the baby girl and investigating how she died as police say finding her mother is an absolute priority.
A newborn baby girl was found dead within a waste pile at an industrial site on Station Road in Rowley Regis on Thursday, June 25, prompting an urgent police investigation.
West Midlands Police believe the infant was unknowingly transported on Wednesday, June 24, by a private waste operator working across the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and West Mercia areas.
Forensic examinations are underway to identify the girl and determine how she died, while Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake stated finding the mother is an "absolute priority."
Officials expressed concern the mother may be "in real need of help" and established a Major Incident Public Portal to collect information directly from the public.
Police are urging anyone who has spotted a loved one behaving differently recently to come forward, assuring the public that "all information we receive sensitively" will be treated with care.
