Woman Arrested After Viral Video Shows Toddler Falling Out of Moving SUV
Jacqueline Hernandez faces felony child abuse charges after her toddler fell from a moving SUV; police acted following a witness report and viral video, authorities said.
- Fullerton Police Department arrested Jacqueline Hernandez, 35, last Saturday after her toddler fell from a moving SUV at N. Euclid Street and W. Malvern Avenue, police said.
- Video from a dashcam posted online shows a black Mercedes-Benz turning on Jan. 20 as the front passenger door opened and a witness who came forward on Jan. 24 provided identifying information.
- The footage shows the SUV stop, the woman run out to pick up the 19-month-old child and return them before the vehicle drives away; the child suffered scrapes and bruises and was treated at an area hospital.
- Authorities say Jacqueline Hernandez posted $100,000 bail and the case remains under review by the Orange County district attorney's office.
- As part of a continuing appeal, Fullerton Police Department released the video and asked witnesses to contact Detective H. Rios at 738-6782 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at TIP-OCCS.
