Axon to Acquire Carbyne, Uniting Cloud Infrastructure and AI to Redefine the 911 Experience
Axon will pay $625 million to acquire Carbyne and launch Axon 911 to improve emergency call handling and reduce loss of vital information, CEO Rick Smith said.
- Axon said Monday it will acquire Carbyne in a deal valued at $625 million, expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
- Amid more than 240 million annual U.S. 911 calls, Axon said the acquisition will expand its ability to manage every stage of emergency response from call to case resolution.
- Carbyne's platform processes more than 250 million data points annually and delivers 99.999% U.S. inbound call flow uptime, providing real-time data, live video, and multilingual transcription.
- Deal documents include standard forward-looking risk language, and Axon was advised by Meitar Liquornik Geva Leshem Tal and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius while Carbyne was represented by Herzog, Fox & Neeman and Greenberg Traurig.
- Axon, best known for TASER devices and body cameras, has increasingly focused on software and AI, and plans to integrate Carbyne's system into Axon 911 to connect callers, dispatchers and responders.
