While on July 1st, in the Vaucluse, the wearing of the helmet will have become obligatory for users of electric scooters, the various right-wing mayor of Avignon, Olivier Galzi, decided to go even further by taking a decree defining, in the intra-muros, a perimeter of prohibition of the movement of the EDPM (motorized personal displacement machines, i.e. electric scooters, gyropods, monoroues, hoverboards, electric drivers...).

While in the Somme the municipalities impose the wearing of the helmet for scooter drivers one after the other, the prefecture of the Oise extends the obligation to the whole department.
The Vaucluse took the step that the national law has not yet taken. On 12 June 2026, the Prefect of Vaucluse signed a decree imposing the wearing of the helmet for all drivers of electric scooters, hoverboards and gyropods in the department. It enters into force on 1 July., and the offenders are liable to a fine of 35 euros.
