Avelo Airlines leaving Salem
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, JUL 17 – Avelo Airlines ends West Coast operations due to operational challenges and backlash over deportation flights while Breeze Airways expands to 5 new cities with 300 routes nationwide.
- In a July 15 email, Avelo Airlines announced it will end West Coast service, including its launch at Salem Municipal Airport, in an announcement from CEO Andrew Levy.
- Earlier this week, Avelo Airlines shut its Santa Rosa base to operate ICE charter flights, sparking protests and prompting a refocus on its East Coast network.
- Scheduled shutdowns begin August 10 at Salem Municipal Airport , with Santa Rosa and Las Vegas bases closing on August 11 and Eugene Airport ending December 1.
- On July 17, 2025, Breeze Airways announced plans to serve five West Coast cities from March 2026, swooping into Avelo’s vacated markets with first-time Burbank flights and $39 promo fares.
- These expansions position Breeze to serve 300 routes across 76 cities in 34 states, spanning California, Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Washington State.
