Investigating avalanches in Molladalen in Ørsta

Scientists have collected data directly under slip avalanches for the first time using sensors to establish rules to better predict the timing and extent of their release.

Both an air ambulance and a rescue helicopter were called to a report of an avalanche in Molladalen in Ørsta. No people were reportedly caught in the avalanche.

A search was launched following reports of traces of an avalanche in Molladalen in Sunnmøre. Police say no one has been arrested.

For a short period it was unclear whether there were people in the area.
