Authorities still trying to identify Brown University gunman three days into manhunt
Authorities released new footage and offered a $50,000 reward while investigating a 9mm shooting that killed two and injured nine during a study session at Brown University.
- On Dec. 16, Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez asked the public to help identify the suspected gunman as the manhunt stretched past 72 hours and officials said they still have not identified the attacker, who killed two and wounded nine at Brown University.
- On Dec. 13, the gunman entered the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building during exams, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm firearm, police say.
- Following the evidence release, Providence Police said `The new video and images that went out last night have generated a lot of phone calls and we have many active tips that are being pursued`, as the FBI offers a $50,000 reward.
- Brown University canceled exams and classes for the rest of the year, doubled Brown University Department of Public Safety staffing and restricted building access, while Providence public schools and Providence Mayor Brett Smiley increased security.
- At the Van Wickle Gates on Tuesday, a makeshift memorial with flowers and framed photographs stood outside Barus & Holley while students and community members built snowmen and sang 'Amazing Grace' during collective mourning.
