Authorities confirm two cyclists died while on RAGBRAI route
MINNESOTA AND IOWA, JUL 23 – Two cyclists collapsed and died during this year’s RAGBRAI event while receiving prompt medical attention, with causes of death under investigation by the state medical examiner.
- On July 23, 2025, authorities confirmed two deaths during RAGBRAI, one on July 21 in Southern Minnesota and another on July 22 in Estherville, Iowa.
- As the ride expanded into Minnesota, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call shortly after 8 a.m. Monday reporting a collapsed rider, attributed to the sheriff’s office.
- In Estherville, a rider was semi-conscious and vomiting at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, and fellow RAGBRAI participants, including a doctor, a surgeon, and a physician’s assistant, tended the victim, Estherville Police Department said.
