The novelist, currently incarcerated in Algeria, is rewarded for his entire work by the Simone Foundation and Cino Del Duca.

The Franco-Algerian author is rewarded for all of his work and for his determination to make a free speech heard. He joins other great names such as Milan Kundera, Jorge Luis Borges or Kamel Daoud.

"A major novelist in the French-speaking scene, Boualem Sansal has established himself over the years as an indispensable voice in contemporary literature," said the jury of the Cino del Duca World Prize, awarded this Wednesday.

With 200 billion euros from the Simone Foundation and Cino Del Duca (French-Italian editor), the prize is awarded "to the strength" of the writer who, in addition to the borders and the censorship, continues to make a voice free and deeply humanist.
