At the beginning of July 2026, a commemorative plaque was placed on the facade of the building where Stefan Zweig lived, driven into exile by the arrival of the Nazis in power, from 1936 to 1939. A period of rich intellectual activity for the Austrian writer, who is still among the most read and translated German-language authors in the world. This recognition of English Heritage comes after an initial refusal by the organization in 2012.
