Atlanta rapper Erica Banks reportedly arrested on theft charge
ATLANTA, GEORGIA, AUG 6 – Erica Banks faces felony charges after TSA agents found a loaded, stolen Smith & Wesson handgun in her purse during routine airport screening, her attorney says she was unaware of the firearm.
- On August 6, rapper Erica Banks was taken into custody at Atlanta's main airport when TSA agents discovered a stolen firearm in her carry-on as she prepared to board a flight to Houston.
- The arrest took place after authorities identified that the Smith & Wesson pistol found in her Louis Vuitton bag had been reported as stolen in Greenville, SC, back in 2018.
- On the evening of August 6, Banks was taken into custody at Clayton County Jail, facing charges of theft by receiving stolen property and a weapon violation, before being released a few hours afterward.
- Banks informed officers that she was unaware of the firearm stored in her purse and stated it was owned by her security personnel, while her lawyer emphasized that their goal is to have the charges dropped once the case reaches court.
