Athletics get wrong end of an apparent ABS mistake against the Yankees
The ABS system experienced a rare glitch during the Athletics' game against the New York Yankees on Saturday night.
A pitch to Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers in the fourth inning was called a strike, although replay showed it missed the zone by 0.8 inches.
Langeliers challenged the call immediately, but home plate umpire Adam Beck upheld the strike after being informed by the ABS controller that the call was confirmed from upstairs.
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said the umpires were told by the ABS controller that the call was confirmed from upstairs.
