There's great news for the Indian Air Force. DRDO is expanding the range of the Astra Mark-2 missile to over 200 km. The Air Force will purchase 700 missiles, which will be mounted on Sukhoi and LCA jets. They are superior to Pakistan's PL-15E (145 km) and comparable to China's PL-15 (200-300 km). Indigenous technology will provide an edge in BVR warfare and reduce dependence on imports.
