Assassin's Creed Franchise Boss Departs Ubisoft
Marc-Alexis Coté declined a leadership role at Tencent-part-owned Vantage Studios and left Ubisoft after more than 20 years leading Assassin’s Creed development.
- On Tuesday, Ubisoft announced the departure of Marc-Alexis Côté following the March 2025 restructuring amid the launch of Vantage Studios, which now operates the Assassin's Creed franchise.
- IGN reports that Marc-Alexis Côté declined a leadership role at Vantage Studios and Ubisoft said he `has chosen to pursue a new path elsewhere outside of Ubisoft` after the reorganisation Tuesday.
- With more than 20 years at Ubisoft, Marc-Alexis Côté joined in 2005 and rose from software engineer to lead design and production on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Odyssey.
- Ubisoft told staff that they will `carry forward the strong foundation he helped build`, praising Marc-Alexis Côté’s impact, while an internal email stressed Vantage Studios leadership must align with core goals.
