Officials said two more deaths raised the toll to 80, while 2.12 lakh people remained affected and the state announced loan relief and compensation.
On Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a major relief package after the flood death toll climbed to 75, with seven new fatalities reported from Sivasagar district.

Under the new measures, the government increased compensation for victims' families to Rs 9 lakh, waiving the mandatory post-mortem requirement, while providing Rs 15,000 in interim cash assistance to severely affected families.
Beneficiaries in Charaideo, Jorhat, Golaghat, and Sivasagar will receive a special Rs 2,500 'Orunodoi' installment from August 1, alongside book grants for students ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000.
