Asian Shares Mostly Rise, Cheered by a US Rally and Easing Oil Prices
South Korea’s Kospi led regional gains as Brent crude fell 0.68% and the S&P 500 rose 1.1% in New York.
Asian shares mostly rose in early Friday trading, with Japan's Nikkei gaining 0.8%, South Korea's Kospi jumping 2.1%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite each adding 0.8%.
Wall Street reversed recent losses as Brent crude oil slid from nearly $110 a barrel earlier in the week and the Treasury yield fell to 4.93% from 5.01% late Wednesday, easing bond market pressure.
Stocks jumped 1.1% in their second rise in the last nine days, while The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.6% and the Nasdaq climbed 1.7% following the Federal Reserve's recent interest rate announcement.
Bank officials in Japan concluded a two-day monetary policy meeting on Friday to decide interest rates, while international benchmark Brent traded down 0.68% to $104.11 per barrel in Asian trading.
Officials signaled they may raise the federal funds rate one more time this year as the Fed remains committed to reaching its 2% inflation target, though higher rates have previously undercut stock prices.
The Asian stock exchanges closed mostly high this Friday, driven by a rally on Wall Street and by the fall in oil prices. Exclusive material for subscribers. To have full access, access the link of the material and make your registration.
