Asia Cup 2025 dates confirmed; tournament to be held in the UAE
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, JUL 26 – The tournament features eight teams in T20 format and is held at a neutral venue due to India-Pakistan tensions, with 19 matches scheduled, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi confirmed.
- On July 26, 2025 the ACC confirmed tournament dates from September 9 to 28 in the UAE.
- The ACC's July 24 session in Dhaka shifted the Asia Cup venue to UAE amid India-Pakistan tensions, despite BCCI remaining hosts.
- Eight teams are set to compete, played in T20 format as prep for the 2026 World Cup, marking UAE’s fifth time hosting.
- During the ACC meeting, the BCCI requested extra time to finalise fixtures, while the schedule features India-Pakistan clashes twice in the league stage and possibly a third in the final.
- In the subsequent ICC meeting, India and Pakistan boards agreed not to travel to each other’s countries for cricket, ensuring neutral venues for the next three years.
