Moody Secures GOP Nomination to Defend Florida Senate Seat
Moody won with 79.6% of the vote and will face Democrat Angie Nixon and independent Neil Gillespie in November.
On Tuesday, Sen. Ashley Moody won the Republican primary with 79.6% of the vote, securing the GOP nomination for Florida's U.S. Senate seat.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Moody to the Senate in 2025 after Marco Rubio became Secretary of State, and she now seeks to serve the final two years of that term.
Moody defeated primary challengers Chris Gleason, Neelam Perry, and Ernie Rivera, setting up a November matchup against Democrat Angie Nixon and independent Neil Gillespie.
Polling from The Nixon campaign showed Moody with 47% support compared to 36% for Nixon, while Republicans have enjoyed widespread support across Florida.
Early voting begins October 24, with the general election scheduled for November 3, 2026, alongside nationwide midterm elections, according to the Florida Division of Elections.
