LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu -- The Philippines is seeking to house a maritime center that will be used by Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member-states to enhance maritime security in the region.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) announced on May 8 the establishment of the ASEAN Maritime Center to safeguard security, freedom of navigation, and order in the South China Sea. ASEAN also plans to establish a joint fuel reserve mechanism to prepare for energy crises arising from war.
