As Minnesota fire departments struggle to recruit, women answer the call
Five of Sartell’s 35 paid on-call firefighters are women, and chief Brent Ambuehl said the department is at capacity as recruitment remains difficult.

- St. Cloud Fire Chief Matt Love argues increasing visibility counters the "antiquated stigma" that firefighting is a man's job. "It's more about technique than muscle," Love said. "Anybody that's capable of doing this job can do the job."
- To address the national reduction in volunteer firefighters, the Sartell Fire Department launched initiatives starting July 1st, including community outreach and partnerships with local schools to introduce residents to the profession earlier in life.
