The 2015 Paris Agreement and Europe's Green Deal were aimed at taking serious action to mitigate climate change. As the COP30 summit in Brazil approaches, doubts have been raised about EU countries' continuing commitment.
A decade ago, with the Paris Agreement, the European Union proclaimed itself a world leader against global warming. Today, with a weakened carbon market and a cut-off Green Pact, it reaches COP30, which is held in the Brazilian city of Belém, divided and without a common road map. As its banks and companies finance “carbon bombs” outside its borders, the targets of the block stagger.
A few days after the beginning of the Cop30, which will begin on November 10 in Brazil, it seems that Europe has reduced its ambitions in the fight against global warming.
