Transfer: Chelsea Goalkeeper, Kepa Completes Shock £5m Move to Arsenal
- Arsenal completed the £5 million signing of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea as backup to David Raya in June 2025.
- Kepa's move to Arsenal came after the club triggered a release clause, which became active following the goalkeeper's contract extension with Chelsea last summer and a loan period at Bournemouth during the prior season.
- Kepa spent seven years at Chelsea with varying degrees of success, making 163 appearances and winning four major trophies, before going on loan to Real Madrid where he helped the team secure both the Spanish league title and the European club championship in the 2023-24 season.
- Arsenal also added Martin Zubimendi this summer and are nearing the signing of Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard with a reported £11 million offer, aiming to reinforce Mikel Arteta's squad.
- The moves suggest Arsenal seek to strengthen squad depth before their 2025-26 campaign start against Manchester United on August 17, continuing to build on last season's second-place league finish.
