Arsenal injury update: Saka, Odegaard and Trossard updated return dates ahead of Brentford
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects Saka, Odegaard, and Trossard to possibly return for the Brentford match while Merino faces months-long recovery after surgery.
- On Wednesday, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard could be available to face Brentford on Thursday.
- Saka pulled out of the warm-up at Elland Road with a hip problem, while Odegaard has been sidelined since January 31 with a `niggle` and Trossard limped off late against Sunderland.
- Trossard impressed at Sunderland, registering an assist and leaving after 89 minutes as Arsenal FC travel to Brentford holding a six point lead with Odegaard scoring once and assisting four times in 18 league appearances.
- Mikel Merino underwent surgery on Monday for a foot fracture sustained last month, and Arteta said doctors were happy but bone healing will take three to five months.
- Looking ahead, the club expects Max Dowman, 16-year-old Arsenal prospect, to be about a week away from his comeback, with reports suggesting Saka could target February 22.
