Train Evacuated After Reports of 'Man with Gun' as Armed Police Swarm Station
British Transport Police evacuated the train and searched Stratford station after a report of a firearm on board, with no injuries or arrests reported.
Armed British Transport Police evacuated a Central Line train at Stratford station on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after receiving a 7:44 am report of a man with a firearm; no weapons were found.
Stratford serves as a major transport hub for commuters traveling from Essex into London, connecting via the Elizabeth Line, Central Line, Jubilee Line, London Overground, and Docklands Light Railway.
Separately, Dorset Police responded on Sunday, August 9, 2026, to a report of two men with suspected firearms near Lifeboat Quay in Poole, subsequently locating both men at Poole Train Station.
Police recovered two suspected antique firearms seized for assessment, while witness Chris Forryan described the response as "quite an experience," noting trains passed through Poole without stopping.
Enquiries remain ongoing for both the Stratford and Poole incidents, with no arrests or injuries reported in either investigation as police continue assessing the circumstances.
