Arizona activates Turquoise Alert for Hawaii girl last seen at Phoenix airport
MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, JUL 24 – Arizona activated its first Turquoise Alert to find 6-year-old Violet Coultas taken by her non-custodial mother in violation of a court order, officials said.
- On July 23, 2025, the Arizona Department of Public Safety activated the first-ever Turquoise Alert after Violet Coultas was last seen at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport with her non-custodial mother, DPS said.
- Earlier this month, the alert officially launched July 10, and it’s known as “Emily's Law” honoring Emily Pike, according to DPS.
- Hawaii Police Department says Sarah Coultas is believed to have fled Hawaii with Violet in violation of a court order, and law enforcement must believe the missing person is in danger.
- Arizona officials said the public's vigilance can make a critical difference, and Hobbs called the system `critical communication tool`.
- Hawaii Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating Sarah Coultas and Violet Coultas-Benson, and DPS said public information could assist in recovery, highlighting the need for improved alerts for at-risk communities.
