Argos' Mike Miller Set to Open His First Training Camp as a Head Coach
The promotion keeps continuity after Toronto won two Grey Cup titles under the same coaching staff.
On Sunday, new Toronto Argonauts head coach Mike Miller opened his first training camp. The 56-year-old Pittsburgh native assumed the role five months after his promotion from quarterback coach.
Miller succeeded Ryan Dinwiddie, who departed to become Ottawa Redblacks head coach and general manager. The Argonauts posted a 5-13 record last year, failing to qualify for the CFL playoffs.
Veteran quarterback Chad Kelly, who missed all of 2025 after a leg injury, will report as the starter Sunday. Former Argos Ralph Holley and Adarius Pickett have re-signed this off-season.
Defensive co-ordinator Greg Quick identified the Mike linebacker position as a 'big question mark' for camp evaluation. Quick emphasized maximizing capabilities of young players competing for that critical role.
Miller described coach anxiety over details as a 'sickness,' explaining that training camp is imperative to identify strengths and weaknesses while maximizing player capabilities within the system.
