Israeli archaeology is suffering from a wave of boycotts, both overt and covert, perhaps more than any other scientific field in Israel. A harsh decision by one of the most prestigious bodies in the field, which has since been reversed, has shocked researchers, but there are also those who are less surprised by it and link it to the government's desire to appropriate the field for the benefit of propaganda, politics or real estate.
