Arc Raiders adds a key quality-of-life feature and a new flying foe

Update 1.22 adds a streamlined crafting system, new aerial enemy Vaporizer, high-risk Close Scrutiny map, and new weapons including Dolabra shotgun and Canto SMG.

  • Embark Studios released Arc Raiders Update 1.22.0, described as one of the game's biggest patches yet, serving as March's major content drop for the extraction shooter.
  • After six months of player feedback, the update streamlines crafting by enabling raiders to fulfill missing materials directly from the same screen. "When crafting, raiders will now be able to fulfill missing materials directly, reducing time jumping between tabs," the official blog post states.
  • New weapons include the Dolabra legendary energy shotgun with two firing modes, the Canto medium ammo-based SMG, and the Surge Coil, a device "shocking anything that drifts into its orbit." The Vaporizer aerial enemy arrives with "devastating laser attacks and idiosyncratic attack patterns."
  • Close Scrutiny introduces a high-risk, high-reward endgame map condition under Arc Operations, featuring rarer loot and dangerous encounters with the new Vaporizer enemy. This expansion positions extraction shooter endgame content as significantly more challenging.
  • Matchmaking now prioritizes players building custom loadouts for fresh servers, according to Embark Studios, encouraging tactical preparation. Streamlined crafting reduces menu time, enabling more topside visits and reshaping how raiders approach resource management.
