- Established in May, the five-member panel led by Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education Director General Kanchan Devi is tasked with evolving a uniform definition for the Aravalli range to regulate future mining.
- Chief Justice of India Surya Kant questioned whether the committee was "waiting for his retirement," warning he would reconstitute the entire panel if they fail to finalize recommendations within two months.
- The Supreme Court directed the committee to "work day and night" to meet the deadline, with the matter scheduled for hearing on December 2 when the final report is expected to be submitted.
