Apple paying 400% more for iPhone 18 Pro memory, says TrendForce
TrendForce says Apple may absorb some costs as iPhone 18 memory prices rise nearly 400% for the 256GB Pro model.
- On Thursday, TrendForce released a report indicating Apple faces significantly higher memory costs for the upcoming Pro and Ultra models, with starting prices expected between $2,099 and $2,299.
- Memory costs for the 256GB Pro model are expected to be nearly 400% higher than last year, as ongoing RAM shortage and hardware costs pressure Apple's BOM significantly.
- TrendForce predicts the Ultra model could cost up to $3,000 at the top-end configuration, though the firm said Apple may absorb some costs to keep pricing "relatively moderate."
- With the "Surprise and Shine" event days away, Apple is increasingly looking to Services revenue to offset higher hardware manufacturing costs rather than passing full impact to customers.
- Consumers should not expect major performance upgrades, as Apple focuses on power efficiency, improved chip cooling, and AI features instead of hardware changes for the upcoming lineup.
