APC’s Dayo Faduyile Wins Ondo South Senatorial by-Election

Faduyile won with 68,474 votes as INEC said the by-election filled the Senate seat left vacant by Jimoh Ibrahim’s UN appointment.

  • Returning Officer Professor Gbenga Solomon-Ibileye announced Faduyile polled 68,474 votes across six local government areas including Okitipupa and Ilaje. Total votes cast reached 70,770, with 602 ballots rejected.
  • Closest rival Adeolu Akinwumi of the Allied Peoples Movement secured 1,411 votes, while Action Peoples Party candidate Olaoluwa Adesanya and Boot Party candidate Funso Clement garnered 213 and 70 votes respectively.
  • INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Mutiu Agboke in Ondo State described the election as a testing ground for the 2027 general election, noting minor hiccups observed will help prepare the commission for future polls.
